At the tip of the Domain and the eastern edge of the Royal Botanic Gardens, Mrs Macquarie's Point was where the wife of Governor Lachlan Macquarie, Elizabeth, would often rest and take in the views of the Sydney foreshore. Mrs Macquaire's Chair, otherwise known as Lady Macquarie's Chair, provides one of the best vantage points in Sydney. The historic chair was carved out of a rock ledge for her where she was known to sit enjoying the panoramic views. The winding road leading to Mrs Macquarie's chair (Mrs Macquarie's Rd.) - built in 1816 - was where she took her harbourside strolls. Today, it is a popular place for photos because the location has pristine views of the harbour, including the Harbour Bridge and the Opera Hous
