The intersection of William and Victoria Rd forms the "X" in Australia's night life capital. 'The Cross' is a bizarre cocktail of strip joints, tattoo parlours, bars and backpacker hostels, with a handful of classy restaurants, designer cafes and gorgeous guesthouses thrown in. It encourages a colourful mix of people and activities, and although it is not a place where you could take the kids, the nearby neighbourhoods of Elizabeth Bay and Potts Point, to the north, are lovely.
